Connecting Washington Transportation Package – $16 billion package that includes an 11.9-cent gas tax increase phased in over fiscal year 2016 and fiscal year 2017. Highlights of the 16-year package include:

  • $9.7 billion on state and local road projects
  • $1.4 billion on state highway maintenance, operations, and preservation
  • $602 million on ferries including a fourth Olympic Class Ferry Vessel and terminal construction/preservation
  • $1.3 billion on non-highway projects, such as bike paths, pedestrian walkways, rail, and transit
  • $247 million for other agency’s costs (State Patrol and Dept. of Licensing)
  • $3 billion for debt service and contingency
  • Also allows Sound Transit to ask voters to pay for potential expansions of its rail line
