Nooksack River Bridge - Special Repair - #9136

Highway: SR 539 Region: Northwest County: Whatcom Location: Milepost(s) 9.4

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Razz Construction Inc. will be repairing sections of the Nooksack River Bridge damaged in a bridge strike in fall 2016.
Work schedule:

Hedrick Creek Fish Passage - #9042

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are removing an old narrow culvert and replacing it with a new bridge on SR 542 near Glacier.

  • This project has wrapped up for 2017, no further lane closures are expected.
  • Work will resume in 2018.
SR 542 Emergency Flooding Repairs - Glacier

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Strider Construction will be stabilizing the bank east of Glacier.
Work schedule:

  • Until further notice - The eastbound lane of SR 542, east of Glacier is closed, around the clock for emergency road repair. Crews will work daylight hours to repair an unstable bank. Traffic will alternate through the open lane around-the-clock until this work is complete.

SR 548 Temporary Stop Signs

Highway: SR 548    Region: Northwest    County: Whatcom    Location: Milepost(s) 4.93

Description: Whatcom County construction crews are replacing a fish passage on county roads. The detour route includes SR 548. Stop signs have been added to SR 548/Grandview Road at Kickerville Road during this construction. These signs are temporary and this intersection will go back to a two way stop when construction is complete. Whatcom County estimates this project will be complete by Thanksgiving.

  • No lane or ramp closures, on state highways, are scheduled.
  • These stop signs will stay in place until WSDOT contractor crews begin work to install a roundabout at this intersection. That project is expected to start in summer 2018.
PSE Utility Work

Highway: SR 9 Region: Northwest County: Skagit Location: Milepost(s) 47.9-48

Description: PSE crews will be doing utility work.
Work Schedule:

  • Monday, Jan. 15 - One lane of SR 9 will close from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. north of West Big Lake Road for utility work. Flaggers will alternate traffic through the open lane.
WSDOT Slab Stabilization - Burlington

Highway: SR 20 Region: Northwest County: Skagit Location: Milepost(s) 59.54

Description: WSDOT maintenance crews will be stabilizing concrete slabs in the southbound I-5 to SR 20 off and SR 20 to southbound I-5 on-ramps.
Work schedule:

  • Friday, Dec. 15 to the morning of Saturday, Dec. 16 - Maintenance crews will close the SR 20 on-ramp to southbound I-5 from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. for slab stabilization. Travelers should use Nevitt Road to Goldenrod Road to George Hopper Road to detour around this work, which is weather dependent.
  • Saturday, Dec. 16 to the morning of Sunday, Dec. 17 - Maintenance crews will close the southbound I-5 to SR 20 off-ramp nightly from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. for slab stabilization. Travelers should use exit 229 back to northbound I-5 to SR 20 to detour around this work, which is weather dependent.
SR 20 Emergency Flooding Repairs - Rockport

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Trimaxx will be rebuilding the bank and repairing the road east or Rockport. The area was scoured on Thanksgiving when flood waters from Skagit River crested the highway.
Work schedule:

  • Crews have finished repairing the flood damaged area. Occasional lane closures could occur Monday, Dec. 18 during some final sign work. Both lanes are open to traffic overnight and through the weekend.

PSE Utility Work

Highway: SR 534 Region: Northwest County: Skagit Location: Milepost(s) .17 to 5

Description: Crews working for Puget Sound Energy will be relocating utility poles.
Work schedule:

  • Until further notice - One lane of SR 534, in small stretches, between I-5 and SR 9 will close daily during daylight hours for utility work. Flaggers will alternate traffic through an open lane.

Church Creek Fish Passage - #9002
