I-5 Bridgeport Way Pre-Design Study

The project is estimated to cost $876,000 and is funded through the Preservation Program. This cost is a rough estimate and subject to changes based on final design factors and project award.

The I-5 Bridgeport Way Pre-Design Study identifies the relocation of the signal pole and utility cabinet at the northeast corner of the I-5 northbound ramps. Low-cost pedestrian and bicycle improvements are also being considered at the I-5 northbound and southbound ramps along Bridgeport Way, and across the bridge over I-5.

The improvements are described below using letters A through N with a visual identifying the location of each letter.

I-5 northbound ramps and Bridgeport Way intersection improvements:
A - Relocate signal pole.
B - Relocate utility cabinet.
C - Add leading pedestrian interval phases.
D - Install/upgrade crosswalk prohibition signage.
E - Revise painted stop bars.
F - Add bike lane extension.
G - Add I-5 northbound off ramp right turn curb extension.
H - Implement right turn offset signal phase.
I - Widen sidewalk on the southeast side.

I-5 southbound ramps and Bridgeport Way intersection improvements:
J - Install sidewalk on northwest side.
K - Install crosswalk prohibitions signage.
L - Install accessible pedestrian signal at the southeast corner of the intersection.
M - Install crosswalk on the north side of the intersection.

Improvements on Bridgeport Way between the intersections:
N - Adds new 5-foot bike lanes in both directions. With the addition of bike lanes, the southbound lanes will be narrowed to 10.5-feet and the northbound lanes narrowed to 11-feet. No change will occur to the existing sidewalk on the east side.
