I-5 Bridgeport Way Pre-Design Study

Planning study news

The pre-design study of the intersection of the I-5 northbound ramps and Bridgeport Way is complete and the project begins design in November of 2023 to relocate the signal pole, utility cabinet, and install improvements for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling across I-5 at the interchange.

Timeline
March - September 2023
Status
Complete
Budget
$876,000

Purpose

WSDOT is relocating the signal pole and utility cabinet at the intersection of Bridgeport Way and the I-5 northbound off and on ramps. The existing signal system requires frequent and extensive maintenance repairs. While planning for these improvements, the pre-design study conducted a complete streets analysis to identify low-cost multimodal enhancements for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling through the intersection.

Complete Streets is an approach to planning, designing, building, operating and maintaining the transportation system that allows for safe and convenient access to destinations for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists and transit riders.
